Ghanimdfaisal@um.edu.my
Professional Learning Communities (PLC) have become a strategic approach for developing teacher professionalism and improving the quality of learning in schools. This study aims to map the development of the PLC concept in the global literature and identify trends, gaps, and research opportunities through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The conceptual framework draws on the six PLC dimensions developed by Olivier and Hipp, comprising shared and supportive leadership, shared values and vision, collective learning and application, shared personal practice, and supportive conditions covering relationships and structures. The SLR was conducted by identifying, selecting, and synthesizing 20 internationally reputable scientific articles retrieved from Google Scholar between 2010 and 2024. The findings show that (a) the PLC concept has evolved significantly from a practice-based collaborative approach toward a more complex learning organization framework integrated with leadership, school culture, and improvements in teacher performance and student learning outcomes; and (b) recent research trends point to the importance of distributed leadership, the use of data in decision-making, and the strengthening of a sustainable collaborative culture. Research gaps remain in the holistic integration across PLC dimensions, the implementation context in developing countries, and the measurement of long-term impact on learning quality. The theoretical implications of this study reinforce the relevance of the six PLC dimensions as a comprehensive analytical framework and offer more integrative, contextual directions for future research.
2026-06-11T20:21:12+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Proceeding of International Conference on Islamic Boarding School https://mail.ejournal.darunnajah.ac.id/index.php/icop/article/view/871Developing an Authentic Leadership Model for University Rectors and Internalization of Pesantren Values in Enhancing Lecturer Performance at Pesantren-Based Higher Education Institutions2026-06-11T20:27:34+07:00Suryadi Suryadusuryadi@unj.ac.idAldo Redho Syamaldoredhosyam@unj.ac.idRihlah Nur Auliarihlahaulia@unj.ac.idAnim Purwantoanimpurwanto@unj.ac.id
Pesantren-based higher education institutions in Indonesia face a distinctive leadership challenge: integrating authentic leadership practices with the deeply embedded values of pesantren tradition to enhance lecturer performance. This study develops and validates a model of authentic leadership for university rectors that incorporates the internalization of pesantren values—including ikhlas (sincerity), tawadhu’ (humility), istiqamah (steadfastness), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and keteladanan (exemplary conduct)—as mediating mechanisms in shaping lecturer performance across teaching, research, and community service domains. Employing a qualitative multi-case study design grounded in the constructivist paradigm, this research was conducted at two pesantren-based higher education institutions in Kabupaten Bogor: Institut Ummul Quro Al-Islami (IUQI) and Universitas Darunnajah. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 28 informants comprising rectors, vice-rectors, faculty deans, department heads, and senior lecturers, supplemented by participatory observation and document analysis over a twelve-month period. Data analysis employed Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model incorporating data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing with verification. The findings reveal a distinctive Pesantren Authentic Leadership (PAL) model comprising four interconnected dimensions: relational transparency grounded in musyawarah, internalized moral perspective rooted in Islamic jurisprudence, balanced processing informed by shura principles, and self-awareness cultivated through muhasabah (self-reflection). The study demonstrates that pesantren value internalization functions as a critical bridging mechanism between authentic leadership and lecturer performance, generating a culture of ibadah-oriented professionalism that transcends conventional performance metrics.
2026-06-11T20:25:26+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Proceeding of International Conference on Islamic Boarding School https://mail.ejournal.darunnajah.ac.id/index.php/icop/article/view/872Web-Based Document Management Systems For Administrative Services In Higher Education2026-06-11T20:29:56+07:00Linda Ika Mayasarilinda.ika@unj.ac.idAldo Redho Syamaldoredhosyam@unj.ac.idDimas Kurnia Robbydimaskurniarobby@unj.ac.idVion Age Tricahyovionage@unj.ac.id
Digital transformation has become a strategic priority for higher education institutions that seek to improve administrative efficiency, transparency, accountability, and service quality. Although web-based document management systems are widely discussed as a solution for improving correspondence, archiving, and administrative workflows, existing studies remain fragmented in their explanations of how these systems are implemented, what benefits they generate, and what challenges affect their sustainability in higher education. This study reviews the literature on web-based document management systems for administrative services in higher education, with attention to their role in improving document accessibility, workflow efficiency, records control, and institutional accountability. Using a systematic literature review approach, relevant studies were identified, screened, and analyzed based on predetermined inclusion criteria covering digital document management, web-based administrative systems, electronic records, correspondence management, and higher education institutions. The selected literature was examined through thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns, key implementation dimensions, and major findings across earlier studies. The review indicates that web-based document management systems contribute to faster document processing, better tracking of correspondence and disposition, lower dependence on physical archives, more accurate data, and easier access to administrative records. The findings also show that successful implementation depends on technological readiness, organizational commitment, user acceptance, clear records management procedures, data security, and integration with existing institutional workflows. Several studies further point to persistent challenges, including limited digital infrastructure, uneven staff competencies, resistance to change, weak standard operating procedures, and concerns about long-term digital preservation. This study contributes to the literature by synthesizing key dimensions of web-based document management implementation in higher education and arguing that effective digital administration requires integrating technological, organizational, procedural, and human resource factors.
2026-06-11T20:29:56+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Proceeding of International Conference on Islamic Boarding School
